“They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel.” - Maya Angelou

I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Hope College and Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Central Michigan University. I am trained to work with individuals or couples both in person or online. I have experience working with ages 14 and older. I have experienced working with a variety of clients including but not limited to those struggling with infertility, anxiety, depression, grief, social, body image, and social anxiety.

I often use solution-based techniques such as simple goal setting and scaling within sessions. These methods focus on clients' strengths and empower them to assist finding their own individual goals in the therapeutic process. I also encourage the use of mindfulness techniques such as progressive relaxation because these techniques bring together the connection of mind and body. Counseling is a very individual process and I believe that not one theory fits with all clients, so l like to start with person-centered theory to help get access for their needs. I also encourage feedback throughout the process to ensure the clients feel treatment is helpful. As the counselor, I will use my knowledge to assist clients in finding their own solutions. I believe that as the counselor I am not there to provide advice and answers to the clients' dilemmas but to encourage them in finding their own answers and getting to know their own needs.
